Invited by the Power of Prayer Church I visited Rwanda
Touched by the need of especially the many homeless and addicted teenage girls, this church is preparing to set up a Rehabilitation Centre for these girls and their children.
Invited by the Power of Prayer Church I visited Rwanda from 8 – 15 September 2018.
Meeting with the Vice-Mayor of Kigali in charge of Social Affairs Mrs Muhongerwa Patricia Meeting with addicted and homeless teenage girls The team of Power & Prayer Church Touched by the need of especially the many homeless and addicted teenage girls, this church is preparing to set up a Rehabilitation Centre for these girls and their children. A team is being prepared to start this project, research has been done after the needs of these girls and their perspectives on a healthy future and contacts have been made with governmental officials. It was encouraging the hear the Vice-Mayor of Kigali in charge of Social Affairs, Mrs Muhongerwa Patricia, expressing her concerns about these girls and sharing the government commitment for initiatives like from the Power of Prayer Church. Speaking with the girls themselves gave me an impression about the horrible circumstances these young girls live in. Homeless for years, addicted and most of them working in prostitution in order to keep themselves and their child(ren) alive. I was as well requested to have a day of team-training on which occasion I was permitted to share some information about the essence of addiction, addiction treatment, running a project with these girls and supporting them to find dignity and self-esteem in life.Photos
